Loading Dropdown at Runtime

Hi friends,

I have a screen in which i have few dropdowns with thosands of records in them.

I used update panel for the page. During the page loading it is taking so much time.

So like cascading dropdown i just want to populate the dropdown at runtime like in onBlur event or else.

Can any one help me please.
