SQL 2008 R2 Express Won't Install

When I attempt to install SQL 2008 R2 Express on a Windows 2008 R2 server, the files extract and nothing else happens.  There are no event log entries.  I've tried a variety of editions of SQL 2008 R2 Express.  Same results.  If I extract the files and run setup, a black box flashes on the screen and nothing else happens.
I've ran it as administrator.  This is on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit and I'm attempting to install the 64-bit version.  I've attempted 2005 and 2012 as well.  Same result.
There are no errors, no dialog boxes, and no event log entries.
