animation to show page is still loading?

I have a page with some controls that take a long time to load. I dont want my user to get discouraged and leave. Is there a really simple easy way to give them a nice big pretty animation to reasure them that the page will load soon? perhaps a meter?


I would like to avoid ajax or other similar extensions if possible and stick to basic asp.net.


Any suggestions?
