Check mandatory fields

Hi all,
I have application with multiple user controls. How to check mandatory fields for applications? For example, in one place I want to validate that user filled firstname,last name from one user control, the next validation is that user filled some sensitive data from another control, etc...? 
I need one validation summary on application level...
