I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled SQL 2012 many times in the past few days and keep getting these two messages after what seems to be a successful install. I am a home user running Windows 7. First I thought the SQL 2008 that came with my laptop
was getting in the way, so I uninstalled that completely. Then I read here that Visual Studio could be a interfering so I uninstalled that too. I tried enabling all access options and rebooting. And I tried resaving and renaming my .vssettings. I
tried downloading from 2 different MS download places. No matter what I do, I get the same two messages.
This message I got every single time:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not available. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
