I am trying to connect from a W7-64  to an XP sp3 machine running SQLExpress . At least , I think it is SQLExpress, when I bring up the management the ServerName is XPMACHINE\SQLEXPRESS but the splash logo on top says SQLServer2008R2 and I have been told it was SQLExpress.
The driver on the W7-64 pc is SQLServer 6.01.7601.17514 and when I try to connect to XPMACHINE\SQLEXPRESS I get an error message that "connection doesn't exist or timed out". For what it is worth, I can connect to the server from XPMACHINE itself using sqlcmd.
I looked in the Download Center for SQLExpress drivers but came up empty. Are there drivers for SQLExpress? Can SQLServer 6.01.7601.17514 driver be used to connect to SQLExpress and/or SQLServer2008R2?
