How to pass data to Ms Office

We always face strong demand to prepopulate Ms Office document

For example, we want on asp.net page onclick of hyperlink, pull out a Ms Office document with some text filled based on the label1.text of the page.
I tried to search around and there is very little document on how this can be done....
Is this Mission Impossible for ASP.net ?
