Greetings community,
I have Windows 7 pro x64 and SQL server 2012 with advanced services 64 bit version installed as a named instance.
I downloaded that big file, and I tried to install SQL server 2014 with advanced services 64 bit version as a differently named instance, so I could gradually upgrade my databases and apps. I didn’t have any problems when I upgraded from
(was it 2008 R2) that way.
The installation completed, but with errors, so I couldn’t start it. Actually, after restart I couldn’t start Windows itself – fortunately I made system restore point and fixed that part of the problem.
I even changed installation folder, because setup complained about already existing master database. Of course I couldn’t have changed shared folder and it might be a problem, but of course I cannot be sure.
