DALC and BE

  I need the exact meanng/definition/explanation regarding BE and DALC ... I use VS 2008 and MS sql server managment studio 2008 ;; Normally i know how to dubug the prog and i can rectify the errors ; apart from that i just wanna know about those DALC and BE ; I am begineer and i need to know about those; could you please explain;
