I am not sure how severe an issue this is, or if I am being overly irrational. I run a medium sized UK based retail company and the website is written in Classic Asp with MySQL. All runs perfectly on Windows 2008 Server.
However the company is growing at a good rate and I am unsure if Classic Asp will become so obsolete that browsers and servers will not support it. I worry that if we do not plan for future today, Microsoft will eventually abandon the language and support rendering
it useless.
We cannot currently afford an inhouse developer to begin converting the site into .Net. However we do need to make some changes such as responsive design and increasing our current product catalogue from 4000 products to 10000 over 12 months.
Before we plough all of our efforts and time into adding products, onto this quickly aging technology, should we try to migrate to .net first?
