I am an ISV and IT consultant. I am looking for suggestions for a solution for one of my customers. I can foresee this discussion being pretty open ended.
The customer has a standard file-share on their server. Internally they access it via UNC or shared drive letter mapped via group policy. Pretty standard stuff.
They are also using our web-based ERP software. Because the ERP is web-based they can access it remotely quite easily. They have Exchange Server and use OWA to access their email remotely. Everything an employee needs to work from a remote location is
accessible via the web through a single easy-to-remember URL. The only missing link is the file share.
The file-share is accessible via WebDAV and in the past I have used the httpFolder behavior to cause IE to open the link in Windows Explorer via the WebDAV mini-redirector. This worked really well even though it created an ...
