We are about to call quits :( please help.

So i have been trying to create a hefty website with my dad for awhile (he has been working at microsoft for 25 years) and i was going to do the visuals and he was going to do the coding. This website would be along the lines of facebook in terms of difficulty and time. Anyways he is only familiar with asp.net and C# as we are using visual studio express 2013. We have been trying to make webforms for a while but it has been extremely difficult to put the visuals on screen for the design. It is hard to move the images around and we are both starting to get fed up. We have tried at least 10 different programs that we though could create the visuals for this site in terms of button then he would come in and code them but we have not been able to find one yet. We have tried dreamweaver but it seems like it does not support asp.net or c#.
