how do i check validation in asp.net

label1=100000 [this is the total amount] textbox1=[empty] here i will enter the amount if it is more than label1 amount then it will show a message (maximum amount) or if by mistake user enter the maximum amount than total then it wont take insert the amount into database. can anyone help me with the asp.net code here..
