The ASP.NET Membership & Roles functionality has been working without any problems in my ASP.NET Web Forms app for several years now. Suddenly, now that I've upgraded to VS2013, users seem to be disappearing from the Role they were assigned to. Might this

Further reading suggests that ASP.NET 4.0 & 4.5 don't support Membership & Roles but instead support "Identity". Assuming this is the case, if I enable ASP.NET 2.0 in IIS, will that keep Membership & Roles working for now, if only as a temporary fix?
