We are facing a difficulty with SQL Express Server. I have this one workstation that needs an upgrade to a newer version of a shop management suite. This software suite needs at a minimum SQL
2008. The suite installer incorporates SQL 2008 Express in it's install path. But the install of MS SQL 2008 Express fails with an unknown error. Tried this twice with the software manufacturer tech support on the phone.
He says we gotta fix Windows first before continuing. I understand that.
I need to find out what version of SQL Express is installed now and then I need to find out if I need to remove it before re-launching the suite installer ...
