Why the last line of code is not running ?

I have
<script>   if (form.upfile8 == "") {     }     else     { etc etc ;    }    return "OK";   </script>
The code etc etc is working but the last line returns nothing
Maybe I mess up the ; and { ?
Pls help, thanks
