help with style for gridview

hi,
I still have problems with lines that appear to disappear for columns as well as rows in my gridviews.  If I make the page smaller, the lines reappear. I've tried to apply border to the gridview ( .gvstyle td { border:1px solid} ) for example, but it doesnt work. How can I fix this with css?
