What is TypeCasting?

Hi,
Can any one tell what is the Difference Between these two.

1. Eval("StageRecDate").ToString() &
2. (string)Eval("ApplicationName")

0	type casting is an explicit conversion. LHS, RHS variables must be compatible with each other and there are changes for a data loss because the type of the destination variable if a smaller size than (or is a base class of) the source variable.
