how to capture a thumbnail from a video file?

I am creating a website for live streaming, so after live streaming that video will be uploaded to the server...
after uploading, from that video file, I have to capture a thumbnail..
the video format will be in .flv extension and the size of video file is larger around 30Mb(it may vary depending on the video..)
any one can help me in capturing a thumbnail from a video file...
