Logic for Attendance tracking system using swipe card?

Hi All,

I need the code logic for Attendance tracking system using swipe card.
The employees will swipe their id card. based on the swipe, in time and out time has to be stored in database.
It has to check for night shift also.
Kindly suggest me a logic.

0	a. Basically, each employee will be assigned to an card with unique id b. Whenever the access card is swiped, the card unique number should be stored along with IN/OUT and the time c.
