.NET3.5 - how to access an HTML control in the .aspx.cs file

I put in some HTML input text controls in the design(.aspx) of the page.
when i try to access the HTML controls in the .aspx.cs of the page, the intellisense
does not bring them up in VS 2008

0	Unless you keep runat="server" attribute with them it intellisense will not sense that control.
