0	Basic security model for a SharePoint is tightly coupled i.e.,active directory, windows accounts. Hence, it is not possible to authenticate with any other system. Claims based authentication removes this tightly coupled authentication and make it easy to authenticate using live ID also. Claims based authentication provides trust among organizations. Hence, one can authenticate other organization and can provide authorization.
