How linq works or its functionality?

Hi,
How linq works or its functionality? its common understanding that all the db tables will be treated as a class and the db queries will be executed within the classes itself (.dbml files). apart from this, how exactly linq works or about its functionality

0	In simple word it can be said as its way of dealing with collection , whether its in memory, or from database or data from a xml file.
