Help on Date Query in specific format

HI
I have a table with eventdate and event of holidays in a table,now i need to bind list of holiday information in current month with day in dd-mm-yyyy format by side of it
How to do this
example aug 15th independence day
Independence date 15-aug-2011-mon should appear in grid where as
in table
15-08-2011 Independence day
Please help me .It's very urgent
